LAVA BEDS HAWAII was created for a single, simple reason... to share the beautiful experience of 'Living on the Lava' with others. LAVA BEDS HAWAII is located on the lava flow field of Kalapana very near the current lava flow activity on the Big Island of Hawaii. By car, we are located 60 minutes from the Hilo airport or a 2 hour drive from the Kona airport. This bed and breakfast is located ON the lava field of Kalapana near the most recent Lava Flow ocean entry. Imagine 'big sky' starlit nights as you witness the soft red glow of the ocean entry plume. So even if it's only for a short stay, a day or two, the experience will truly be one of a kind. With nearly living space, this brand new home was built in 2009 and has 3 bedrooms available for guests. The unobstructed views here are magnificent!Our B&B at LAVA BEDS HAWAII was established in 2009. It is a solar and wind powered home. Taking the landscape into careful consideration, my wife and I designed and built it ourselves. We took pride in our work. Upon noticing the many tourists visiting the flow late into the evening, we realized a B&B would be a great idea! So, if you are one of the many tourists, travelers and/or adventurers who plan on visiting the Kalapana Lava Flow and would like a nice place to stay, while there, on the flow - then look no more! We think you'll find the experience as something wonderfully unique.
