Sea Isle City, NJ Vacation Rentals
In 1882, an entrepreneur named Charles Landis bought the town of Sea Isle City with a vision of turning it into an American version of the Italian city of Venice. Landis' ambitious development of the New Jersey shore was a smashing success. Today, Sea Isle City is one of the most unique and atmospheric towns along the Atlantic coast.
The shore stretches across five miles of beach terrain. New Jersey family vacation rental options abound along the canals and include cozy beach side cottages as well as rentals nearer to downtown. Your Sea Isle City, New Jersey rental will connect you with more than just canals, however. The historic town promenade features down-home "beach eats," shopping, games, and people-watching. New Jersey shore vacation events can be found in spades here as well. During February, local residents participate in a "polar bear plunge." Consider joining the fun, but do check with your physician first-the Atlantic Ocean in winter can really chill you out!
Every year, the town celebrates the birthday of an unusual local celebrity-a turtle named Sara who serves as the unofficial Sea Isle City mascot! Architectural curiosities include the Spinnaker Condominiums, the Colonnade Inn, the Sea Isle City Water Tower, the shops along Landis Avenue, and the Ludlam Beach Lighthouse on 35th street. Julian's Fun Land opens on Memorial Day weekend and offers games, rides, and amusements for kids (and kids-at-heart of all ages).
Other popular events/activities include concerts/movies under the stars, family night dance parties, guided beach-combing, public library summer reading club, bike and surf buggie rentals (along Pleasure Avenue) and over free guided tours of the Sea Isle City Historical Museum at 4208 Landis Avenue.
